The people of Bangladesh eat what they produce in their fields. They generally produce rice, pulse and different kinds of vegetables and fruits. Some people rear goats, cows and buffaloes. Again, some people rear chickens and ducks. There are also some people who catch fish in the rivers, canals, ponds, bills and the seas. So the people of Bangladesh eat rice, pulse, vegetables, fish, meat, chicken and different kinds of fruits. Boiled rice with fish and pulse are their favourite food. They also eat 'chira and muri' prepared from rice. On different festivals they eat delicious food like polao, biriani, chicken roast, mutton curry etc. They also prepare different types of pithas using rice, flour, sugar, coconut, milk etc. and eat them. Again, the people of Bangladesh are fond of different kinds of sweets such as gulla,rasamalai, gulapjamun, kaljamun and chom- chom. They often distribute sweets among their friends and relatives on different occasions like birthday ceremony, weddings, Bangla New Year's Day or Pahela Baishakh etc.
